A much less expensive option to a laminate finish is an aqueous coating to the printed sheet. The coating is a very fast drying water based solution that is laid down onto the printed sheet at the same time as printing (inline) and not as a separate process as in lamination.

Aqueous coating can offer either a high gloss finish or a matt/silk finish and is best used on coated boards and paper.

It is not as robust a finish as lamination but will offer protection against finger marking and dirt. Being a water based coating it is much friendlier towards the environment than laminations and UV varnishing.
